Maybe it’s the winter. The short days and long nights can really make me feel low. Maybe it’s the craziness of the times we’re living in. It really is difficult to manage all that is going on. Maybe it’s just the creative personality. Maybe it’s a combination of all those things. I am in a creative slump.
How about you? Do you ever get into one of these where nothing seems to inspire you to create?
Every painting I’m working on is not going the way I envisioned. My writing seems lifeless and I really can’t think of a thing to write about. I can’t even think about poetry. So I thought maybe we can find some strength–some encouragement from each other. I thought I would share my creative struggles with you so if you are struggling too you can also see you’re not alone. I’m pretty sure every artist from the very famous to the every day creators have gone through times where they cannot create to save their lives.
I have tried just going into my art space even when I don’t feel creative and just sit there and try to work up a creative desire. I have tried watching videos on YouTube of other artists to inspire me. I have tried prayer. I have tried just about everything I can think of and still nothing.
So I’m asking you. What do you do when you feel like you’re in a creative prison? What do you find helpful? Where do you go for inspiration? Let me know. Leave a comment and tell me about yourself. Tell me about your struggles and your victories. I’d love to hear about your creative journey.
Let’s inspire one another. Let’s encourage one another. Let’s get our creativity on together!
